Joanna Olczak-Ronikier

Joanna Olczak-Ronikier (b. 1934) – A writer and screenwriter, a co-founder of Piwnica pod Baranami, author of a monograph about the PpB and a biography of its founder, Piotr Skrzynecki – Piotr, author of Janusz Korczak’s biography, nominated for many prestigious awards, laureate of Jerzy Turowicz Award (2013).

Joanna Olczak-Ronikier is also a laureate of the most important Polish literary award – the Nike, which she received in 2001 for her book W ogrodzie pamięci / In the Garden of Memory. The book, which has been translated into many languages, tells the story of her family (she is the granddaughter of publishers Jakub Mortkowicz and Janina Mortkowiczowa, and daughter of Hanna Mortkowicz-Olczak), which breaks off suddenly in 1944.
