Edward Leszczyński

(1880–1921) was a poet, playwright, critic, and translator. He was born into a landowning family in Przemyśl. He studied philosophy at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, and tied himself to the city until the end of his days. He was an active part of the Green Balloon cabaret, and on the editorial board of Museion. For a year he served as literary director of the Juliusz Słowacki Theater. Though appreciated by his contemporaries, he did not make a mark on the canon of Polish poetry. His wife was the famous Young Poland muse Eliza Pareńska, daughter of the Krakow doctor Stanisław Pareński. Her sister, Zofia Pareńska, was the wife of Tadeusz Boy-Żeleński.
