Dragon's DenAccording to legend recorded by Wincenty Kadłubek, a dragon lived in a cave at the foot of the castle hill. The bloodthirsty beast was finally slain by a clever cobbler. The empty cave later served as a shelter for vagrants, a seedy bar, and… a bordello. Today, a statue of the dragon stands at the entrance of the cave and spouts fire at regular intervals. Stanisław Pagaczewski proposed an alternative version of the Wawel Dragon story in his amusing Baltazar Gąbka novels.
