Tygodnik Powszechny Weekly

12 Wiślna Street

Tygodnik Powszechny, the intellectual weekly magazine founded in 1945, is published here. Under the legendary editorship of Jerzy Turowicz, Tygodnik defied Communist censorship to publish poems of Nobel laureates and translations of notable foreign authors. Many controversial topics were discussed on its pages. Its contributors have included Karol Wojtyła, Wisława Szymborska, Sławomir Mrożek, Władysław Bartoszewski, and Józef Tischner, a priest and philosopher.
