Wawel

Inhabited as far back as 50,000 years ago, the royal hill is a favourite feature of legends, national myths and stories, along with popular characters including Duke Krakus, Princess Wanda, and St Stanisław. It is said that a mysterious chakra, a stone with supernatural powers discovered by Apollonius in the 1st century, is here. Wawel Cathedral is the burial place of the ashes of poets of the Romantic period Adam Mickiewicz and Juliusz Słowacki, as well as the urn with soil from Cyprian Kamil Norwid’s grave.
